Ask me to come to your family lake house to shoot your engagement session, and then add a beautiful blanket of snow…. DONE! I’m there! Maddison and Kyle’s winter lake house engagement session was everything that you can imagine! It was cold, but it was so beautiful!
Maddison invited me up to her family’s Michigan lake house that is tucked away right next to an apple orchard. The weather had worked in our favor, as a beautiful blanket of snow had fallen that morning making everything white and dreamy. They braved the cold, stood on the ice (even when it was making cracking noises!!), and brought their two fur babies– who were just so incredibly good!!
Their story begins when Kyle met Maddison’s sister through a girl she knew. Kyle ended up introducing her sister to his roommate and they began dating. At the time, Maddison was living in Florida and had only heard about Kyle through her family, as he had been hanging out with the fam quite a bit. Maddison first met Kyle at her sister’s college graduation. She had moved back to Indiana two days before and distinctly remembers looking at her friends and asking why no one had told her that he was cute! She was in the process of getting some things moved into an apartment and Kyle volunteered to help move furniture. At the end of the night, Maddison asked if he was ever going to ask for her number, to which he replied, “don’t worry about it.” He had already gotten her number from her sister. They did go on a few dates, but life had other plans and they eventually went their separate ways.
Even thought they split, he was still always around at parties and functions. Eventually, her sister got engaged and because both her and Kyle were in the wedding, they started to see each other more often. They had both dated other people and had never really sat down and talked about what happened between them. So, one night after he had been at her family lake house all weekend (the same lake house these engagement photos are taken!), Kyle asked if they could stop and get a beer on the way home. Turns out this whole time they both wanted to try again, and neither of them had the guts to confess it over the last two years. So, they tried again, and this time it worked! Now they are building a life and a home together, and planning a beautiful September wedding at Salomon Farm. I couldn’t be more thrilled for them!
I will forever be thankful that they have invited me to take part in one of the most important days of their life!
