When Lanette reached out to me to document her rainbow baby’s newborn photos, I nearly began to cry. She doesn’t know that, at least not until now. (Hi Lanette, if you are reading this. š ) Lanette and I met a couple years ago during a mutual friend’s birth. During the birth, I was taking the photos, and she was doing the videography. I loved working with her so much, so I immediately connected with her on Instagram. I followed all of her Instagram stories, and when she announced her pregnancy with Roman, I was beyond thrilled for her because I knew how much she wanted to be a mom. A little time passed, and when the news came that Roman wasn’t going to be on this side of Earth, but instead with our Heavenly Father… I grieved for them.
I’m thankful for God’s redemption. I’m thankful for God’s promises. I’m thankful that even in times of sorrow, God gives glimpses of hope. I’m thankful that God gave Cain + Lanette their child, Roman, and I rejoice with them in the birth of Oliver. Oliver is absolutely precious, in every sense. He was full of so many smiles during the session. Seriously, I’ve never witnessed a newborn smile so much. He is such a joy, and I’m beyond thankful that I was given the opportunity to document these first few moments of them as a family. Their story is one of the many reasons that I am thankful that I get to live this life as a newborn photographer.
